    Spatial installation with 4 HD videos (2 min, 4.5 min, 6.5 min, 14 min), 2 black-and-white prints (60 x 80 cm, 80 x 60 cm), 2 color prints (60 x 40 cm), dress, and facial adornment / 2024

Heterotopia emerged from a year-long collaboration between the artist, choreographer Roula Karaferi, and musician Rula Pikuola in Munich, Meliovia and Larissa in Greece. Drawing on Michel Foucault’s concept of „heterotopias“—spaces that contrast or mirror daily reality—this installation invites viewers into a world of layered spatial and temporal experiences. The videos and photographs capture fleeting movements and distilled moments, merging static and dynamic forms to evoke spaces of transition and ambiguity.
Through its combination of dress, facial adornment, and varied visual media, Heterotopia creates a realm that is at once familiar and other, reflective of the fluid and often contradictory nature of identity and bodily presence. This alternative space resists fixed interpretation, prompting reflection on how physical and mental spaces intersect and diverge.
